Colonic Hydrotherapy (also known as Colon Hydrotherapy or Colonic Irrigation) is an excellent and simple way to rid the body of hardened, toxic faecal matter from the walls of the colon which can poison the blood stream and cause unwanted diseases. But did you know that it can also help clear the mind of stress and worry?  Additionally, it's an excellent way to hydrate the cells of the body and improve the performance of the liver which requires large amounts of water to function properly.

Eliminating the unwanted waste from the colon assists the systems of the body to return to normal function, allowing the body the right conditions to heal itself.

How does it work?
Colonic Hydrotherapy is a safe and gentle infusion of warm filtered water into your colon via the rectum.

There are no chemicals or drugs involved in the procedure and it's considered both relaxing and comfortable by those who partake in the therapy.

Lying on a purpose built table in complete comfort, the client feels safe and in control of their dignity while the small disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum so that the warm filtered water can enter the colon.

All the equipment is either disposable or has been thoroughly disinfected prior to use and are in an enclosed system so there are absolutely no offensive odours to worry about.

While the filtered water is gently flushing the system the therapist will gently massage the stomach to help dislodge some of the waste stored in the colon. Water pressure may be adjusted to help stimulate a sluggish colon and to stimulate peristalsis.  (Peristalsis refers to the wavelike muscular contractions of the alimentary canal which assist fecal matter to be expelled from the body.)

Each session lasts about 60 minutes, but clients should allow 90 minutes for the first session, so that a complete history can be taken and to explain where, what, when and how it all works and the extra time also helps you to get to know your qualified therapist. Subsequent visits take approximately one hour.

During your visit the therapist will evaluate your progress and will determine whether you would benefit from additional treatment sessions. This assessment is important as often toxic material can be stubborn to release after many years of being impacted in the colon.

After the visit you may find you have much more energy, your immune system may function better, and certainly your bowel movements should be improved. Some people even say they think better, are lighter in mood and generally feel healthier.

A few commonly asked questions:

1. Can I return to work directly after a Colonic Hydrotherapy session?

A. You certainly can as it's just like having a normal bowel movement.

2. Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue?

A. Usually not, but because you have had the toxins stirred up there could be some mild discomfort or fatigue as the system starts to eliminate the toxins. Peppermint tea is usually good for gently calming and soothing the stomach. As for fatigue, this normally passess quickly.

3. Does having a menstrual period at the time of the therapy session have any effect on the treatment?

A. No, in fact it is usually a good time to recieive a treatment as your body is already in cleansing mode.  Flow will not interfere with the treatment.

4. Is the system hygienically maintained?

A. It certainly is. Our qualified therapists thoroughly disinfect the whole system after each Colonic Hydrotherapy session and dispose of all disposable items. No disposable item is used twice. We also have a check system review after each session and clean to ensure you are perfectly safe.
