Naturopathy

Introducing your Naturopath - CINDY DAVIS

My passion is to guide and accompany individuals to grow better health holistically.

Natural medicine is used to establish health and wellness by embracing the considerable healing powers of nature.  Naturopaths safely prescribe natural substances and interventions as tools to stimulate one’s innate vitality.  In this way most illnesses can be addressed. The aim of naturopathy is to treat people, not only disease; and to remove the cause of the disease, not merely to suppress its symptoms.

Naturopaths teach the best cure – prevention.

Herbal medicine
Throughout history plants have been used medicinally. Qualified naturopaths are professional herbalists who are familiar with both the historical uses of plants and their modern pharmacological actions.

Clinical nutrition
Clinical nutrition is the use of diet as therapy.  It is the basis of naturopathy. This makes sense when you realise that the majority of all illness is attributed to poor nutrition.  Wholefoods and nutritional supplements prove to maintain health and to address disease.

Therapeutic massage
Some of the reasons why massage may be indicated as a therapy:

  • Massage may encourage increased blood flow to the area being massaged, bringing with it fresh oxygen and nutrients and helping to remove deoxygenated blood.
  • Lymphatic massage may help to remove impurities and improve lymphatic congestion.
  • Massage can alleviate swelling and ease pain.
  • Where too much stress causes symptoms in the body, massage is an effective way of helping to address and manage the stress.

What to expect in a naturopathic consultation
The initial consultation is about one hour long.  Lots of questions are asked about most aspects of your life, for example the presenting complaints, medical history, family and social history, and all the systems of your body.  Your vital signs like blood pressure and body temperature are taken and a non-invasive physical examination is done.  All information is kept confidential and at the discretion of the therapist, very personal information is not recorded, especially if so requested by the client.

All this information enhances the accuracy of the diagnosis.  An accurate diagnosis makes for a specialised treatment plan, so that you may get better faster.

Towards the end of the session, lifestyle recommendations are discussed and manageable goals are set. Some natural medicine may be prescribed immediately or the naturopath may need to further research your case or send you for further medical investigations.

Consecutive sessions are typically shorter in duration. The consultations may be scheduled closer together at first, then further apart as health improves.
